Committee Information

BOMA Seattle King County has several active and effective committees that meet regularly to help further the mission and goals of BOMA member firms and professionals.

GENERAL COMMITTEE ACTIVITIES (In order by meeting schedule)
 

Government Affairs Committee - Open to all BOMA Members
Committee Meeting Times: 8AM - 1st Tuesday BOMA Office 
Government Affairs Committee have a strong representation of member interests with respect to legislation and regulation.  There is regular evaluation of legislative priorities at the state and local level, also continuation of BOMA's leadership of WREC (Washington Real Estate Coalition). Government Affairs Committee coordination of advocacy efforts and liaison with BOMA's Lobbyist has developed relationships and access to elected officials and provides them with industry information and issues at the state and local level.
 

Suburban Cities - Open to all BOMA Members

Suburban Cities - Meeting Times: 8:30am – 1st Wednesday

GVA Kidder Mathews – 500 - 108th Ave NE Bellevue - 24th floor conference room

BOMA Officers - Bellevue Suburban Committee brings together members who have common interests on commercial real estate issues outside Seattle. They monitor and respond to City Government proposed actions including permit fees, assessments, building codes and regulations, land use, real estate taxation, utilities, etc. Also respond to transportation issues. Economic Development Coordinate communications with suburban cities, BOMA and the Building Emergency Network Develop relationships with Suburban City leaders, mayors, city council members and staff.

 

Executive Committee -
Committee Meeting Times: 12 noon - 2nd Tuesday - WAC
BOMA Officers - Administration and leadership of BOMA affairs.

 

Associate Member Committee - Open to all Associate BOMA Members
Committee Meeting Times: 10AM - 2nd Wednesday BOMA Office
Associate Members help with the development and distribution of the yearly Membership Directory. Production of the BOMA golf tournament, Trade Show, Blue Angels event, assistance with the Annual Day at Safeco Field and the Holiday Party PAC fundraising event.  In addition, educate BOMA members on the vast resources that are available to them. Associate members can enhance the position of associate members as preferred vendors.

Education Committee - Open to all BOMA Members

Committee Meeting Times: 9:00AM - 3rd Wednesday BOMA Office

Education Committee offers classes in Real Property Administrator, Facilities Maintanence Administrator, and System Maintenance Administrator courses. Develops and conducts clock hours seminars each year relevant to the Commercial Property Professional. Promotes Building Engineer Skills Training, markets education classes & seminars, promotes sustainability and energy efficiency education.

 

Member Services Committee - Open to all BOMA Members
Committee Meeting Times: 10:30AM - 3rd Wednesday BOMA Office
The Member Services committee coordinates BOMA community service project-partnership. They conduct the Office Building of the Year Contest. Promotes BOMA's public relations and public profile. They developed BOMA's web site into a useful toll for membership. The committee also promotes membership and growth, marketing & membership communication, and careers in Commercial Real Estate.

BOMA Board & Officers - The Board of Trustees represents and safeguards member interests through the determination of basic policy, review and appraisal at periodic intervals of overall progress and achievement.


Code/Utility Committee - Open to all BOMA Members
Committee Meeting Times: 9:30AM - every other 4th Tuesday BOMA Office
Code/Utility Committee represents BOMA membership interests with respect to building code issues locally and at the state level. The committee was successful in promoting the passage of the new International Code for Washington State. Code/Utility Committee promotes BOMA's representation on the Seattle Building Code Advisory Board, State Code Advisory Board, Seattle Fire Code Advisory Board and Seattle King County Plumbing appeals Board.  Watchdogs land use issues and  maintains a working relationship with DPD especially as DPD continues to improve their plan review process. 

The committee participates in electric rate policy with Seattle City Light and Puget Sound Energy.  They help promote and coordinate conservation efforts with power refuge and recycling and maintain a working relationship with SCL and PSE.

 

Environment & Sustainability Committee - Open to all BOMA Members

Committee Meeting Times: 10:00am 4th Thursday BOMA Office

Environment & Sustainability Committee promotes energy efficiency and sustainable business practices to BOMA's membership and the commercial real estate industry. The committee facilitates the implementation of best practices in the management of solid waste, hazardous waste, recycling and disposal. Promotes the implementation of water conservation practices in commercial real estate. Promotes best practices in storm water and sewage management. Promote the use of effective assessment and benchmarking tools to inform building operators in their sustainable building management practices. Promote environmental stewardship in commercial real estate. Promote healthy and productive commercial real estate environments. Promote "green" building practices in the design, build out, remodeling, renovation and disposal of products in the built environment.

Promote "green" building practices in the purchasing of products for use within the built environment. Promote environmentally sustainable transportation policies. Educates and informs real estate professionals in sustainable building practices. Works with government in promoting the same and in establishing reasonable and fair building codes, regulations and policies with respect to sustainability issues in commercial real estate
