The real estate licensing law has been completely rewritten for the first time since the law was created in 1925. The RCW 18.85.481 will take effect July 1, 2010. Some of the changes include:

  • A salesperson license will continue to be in effect, but will be considered a broker license.

  • All licensees will be required to take a 3 hour Transition Course by their first renewal date after July 1, 2010. This course will be approved for continuing education and focuses on changes to the WAC (WA Administrative Code) rules.

  • Licensees will be issued a new license after they complete the transition course and when they renew their licenses the first time after July 1, 2010.

  • The education required for getting or renewing a license will change.
