EER: Share Your Data

Each year, BOMA International offers the most accurate and comprehensive benchmarking resources for both the office and the industrial sectors—the Office EER and the Industrial EER. But before BOMA can provide these critical resources to the commercial real estate industry this year, we need you to submit your data to the 2016 EER surveys, opening next week.

Market fundamentals are continuing to strengthen and competition in both the office sector and the fast-growing industrial sector are heating up. The benchmarking data found in this year’s reports will be vital for successfully navigating new market realities. That’s why your participation in the Office EER survey and/or the Industrial EER survey is so important.  Help us continue a legacy of benchmarking excellence—and use the detailed income and expense data collected to position your property or portfolio for success in 2016 and beyond once the reports are launched in June.

Sharing your data is easy:

• Any office or industrial building can submit 2015 year-end income and expense data, regardless of whether or not the building is owned or managed by a BOMA member.
• The online submission form allows most respondents to complete the survey in about 30 minutes.
• No need to complete the whole survey at once. Save your answers as you go and return to the form as many times as needed before the first quarter deadline.

Helpful documents to have on hand before starting each EER survey include:

• 2015 year-end financial statements (unaudited figures are acceptable);
• Utility bills (e.g. electric, gas, water), if applicable;
• Your building lease, which should stipulate the method of floor measurement used for the property;
• Your Chart of Accounts; and
• BOMA’s Chart of Accounts, which is referenced throughout each survey and available on the Resources Page at eer.boma.org. Be sure to reference the Industrial Chart of Accounts if submitting data to the Industrial EER.

When you complete a survey, you will:

• Receive a free Expense Performance Comparison report, which assesses how your building compares to its market peers;
• Gain priority access to the 2016 Office EER and/or Industrial EER—and receive deep discounts on your subscription(s); and
• Fulfill a prerequisite for applying for, maintaining or renewing your building's BOMA 360 designation.
