BOMA International held its Annual Conference and Expo in Washington D.C. on June 25-28, 2016. There was a near record crowd this year including a large international delegation. Below are some of the highlights:

BOMA International Membership

  • BOMA membership is strong and 5 out of 7 regions have reported membership growth.
  • Our partnership with Home Depot has grown into a $122 million business, with rebates back to members of $2.4 million and dividends back to BOMA local associations of over $60,000. And that’s just for this past year! Members have received rebates in excess of $6 million to date. If you'd like to find out how you can sign up, click here.
  • The Industrial EER had a record number of survey participants, and both the Office and Industrial EERs have now been released. More information about EER can be found here.
  • Did you know that one-third of all U.S. workers work in BOMA buildings? The 2016 Economic Impact Study reports that one-third of all U.S. workers work in BOMA buildings.
  • BOMA’s Floor Measurement Standards Committee will soon launch the revised office floor standard.
  • The BOMA 360 program continues to grow with nearly 1,400 buildings certified and a growing interest from our international affiliates.
  • BOMA’s codes team has been hard at work reviewing potential changes to the 2018 international codes. Over 2,000 codes proposals were received that could cost the industry millions.
  • Tom Wallin (Leibsohn & Company), Coleen Spratt (CommonWealth Partners) and Wade Lange (American Assets Trust) presented during the BOMA Account Executive (BAE) Meeting on the language of Real Estate owners. They received rave reviews from the BAEs. See their presentation here.

The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Awards

  • The TOBY competition on Tuesday night, sponsored by Home Depot, features 84 regional winners competing for 15 international awards.
  • The 1500 Jefferson Building (managed by Wright Runstad, owned by FYI Properties) is a member of BOMA South Puget Sound and took home an International TOBY for the Pacific Northwest Region! Competing with three other buildings, 1500 Jefferson took home the trophy for the Government Building Category. Congratulations!
