Compliance with the International Fire Code is a WA State legal requirement for building owners and managers, and includes how the IFC has been adopted and amended by the local Fire jurisdiction where your building is located. Fire codes can apply and be required in all sizes and types of properties, not just high-rises. Knowing what’s required to ensure that your building is compliant, 24/7, and that everyone who works in and visits your property knows their correct fire responses, isn’t just the law; it’s an ethical and moral responsibility.
In this course, you will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about the Fire Codes from the experts responsible for WA State’s two, largest jurisdictions: Chief Charles Cordova, City of Seattle Fire Marshal, and Chief Ken Carlson, Fire Marshal for the City of Bellevue. The Chiefs will address important provisions and recent Fire Code updates to be aware of, and provide perspective on the fire safety complexities that drive Fire Code changes within our rapidly growing cities.
How to meet your jurisdiction’s Fire Code requirements, important provisions in Chapter 4 – Fire and Emergency Planning, and understanding how new technologies can help you achieve (and maintain), Fire Code compliance and emergency readiness at your properties and engage your Tenants in will be shared by Jan Bishop, U.S. General Manager for WPS Disaster Management Solutions, a BOMA Seattle and King County Industry Partner with decades of local experience.
Key topic areas:
- WA State adoption of the 2015 International Fire Code
- City adoptions and amendments for Seattle and Bellevue
