The Golden Dumpster and Platinum Dumpster competition is sponsored by Recology Cleanscapes, BOMA Greater Seattle and Seattle Public Utilities. This award recognizes Seattle buildings for their significant achievements in the areas of waste reduction, recycling and composting.
This year was the 14th annual Golden Dumpster Awards and we are pleased to evaluate commercial properties around Seattle! This awards program evaluates the following:
System - Placement, frequency, and variety of disposal of materials
Success - The actual result of the system reflected in bins
Sustainability - Clear push for building-wide involvement

Strong collaboration between property management and the janitorial team to support sustainability efforts.

Efforts to donate furniture, reuse material, and reduce waste.
We also awarded a Platinum Dumpster Award. Only previous Golden Dumpster Award winners were eligible to apply. The Platinum Dumpster winner showed meaningful improvements in waste reduction, tenant education, composting and recycling. They also had exceptional materials management systems and implemented advanced practices since initially winning the Golden Dumpster Award!
