Mandatory Building Tune-Ups Legislation
passed last year requiring building tune-ups. Your Advocacy team
worked with the city both on the legislation and on the director’s rule process
that followed. The
director’s rule will be finalized shortly and we will be getting information
out regarding the specific requirements.
King County: Transportation Task
Force The
Transportation Task Force is a workgroup of the Government Affairs Committee. They are tracking key
transportation projects in the County and engaged with the transportation
agencies to educate about the impact of the projects on BOMA member buildings
and provide alternative solutions.
City of Seattle: Head Tax The City Council
considered reinstating the Business Head Tax as part of the budget process. The Council voted to
reject the proposal by a narrow margin of 4-5. City of Seattle:
Waterfront Local Improvement District (LID) With the expectation
that Bertha will complete the tunnel this Spring, the city has restarted the
LID process. They
expect to collect over $200 Million through the LID, which is an assessment of
real property taxes to pay for certain projects in the development of the
Waterfront Park. Your
Advocacy team will continues to work directly with the city to ensure a
transparent process and that there is a fair assessment of value for our
members.
