Not only was this my first BOMA conference, but this is also my first year in the commercial real estate industry. What an introduction to the world of commercial real estate!

The 2021 BOMA Conference theme was: BOOM! Everything is Different. Many conversations were led by how things have changed in the commercial office, especially in the last year. Having joined commercial real estate in the middle of the pandemic, I had no reference to what the commercial office looked like before 2020. However, I learned that our industry has been nothing but flexible and adaptable with the challenges the world has faced. We have a huge influence in bringing our tenants back to the city and I hope I can bring a fresh set of creative ideas back to my buildings.
From committee meetings and educational classes to inspiring keynote speakers, each session was informative, engaging, and full of passion. My favorite session I attended was a walking tour of Seaport Square Park. It was a perfectly sunny day to see views of the Boston skyline and pop into a few buildings. We saw beautifully designed lobbies and heard from property management teams on how they’re planning to welcome their tenants back. It was great to listen to different perspectives from both emerging and seasoned professionals. To top off the entire conference experience, some of my favorite memories from this trip will be exploring a brand-new city with my colleagues who I can now call my friends. I’m humbled to have connected with those in the local chapter who laughed with me, offered their mentorship, and welcomed me with open arms!
A fellow BOMA Seattle King County member told me, “There is so much power in making connections” and I will never forget it. I hope to continue getting involved with BOMA to expand my knowledge, develop new skills and grow my network.
Thank you to everyone at BOMA Seattle/King County for awarding me the DEI Scholarship! It was truly an honor to receive and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to represent Seattle in Boston.
