It is hard to believe that summer has ended and the policy debates in Washington D.C. are starting up again. This fall, we are sure to face several challenges including a possible federal government shutdown, difficult regulatory responses to climate-related impacts, and state and local funding reductions.
BOMA Advocacy is ready to face these challenges and move the industry forward. Over the summer we worked closely with Congress on H.R. 1491, gaining numerous sponsors and laying the groundwork to advance this bipartisan bill in the balance of the Congressional session. The Advocacy team has also had the opportunity to meet with various organizations to discuss the latest in energy policy and decarbonization efforts across the U.S. and Europe; just this past month that has included the White House Domestic Climate Policy Office, Delegation of the European Union to the United States, U.S. General Services Administration, Cleaning Coalition of America, and Halliburton Labs. Further, we are in the middle of planning two significant meetings, the Winter Business Meeting/National Issues Forum (January 28-31, 2024) and the Second Annual Public Policy Symposium (March 5-6, 2024), both in Washington, D.C. This year, the Policy Symposium will focus on distributed energy systems and how this technology can meet the challenges faced by net-zero emissions targets.
