Ready to grow your career and expand your horizons? BOMA International Chair Brian Cappelli, BOMA Fellow, RPA, unveiled a new certification for early-career professionals at the Sunday General Session. The Certified Manager of Commercial Properties certification, or CMCP, offers a straightforward way to communicate property management skills to potential employers.
The CMCP certification is offered by Commercial Real Estate Certification Institute
(CRECI), an independent certification body backed by BOMA International and BOMI International. The certification requires a few years of formal, post-secondary education and/or a few years of on-the-job property management training, as well as 30
hours of training specific to property management. “Supervisors can use the CMCP to evaluate a property manager’s readiness for increased roles or responsibilities,” Cappelli explained. The certification also helps supervisors “uncover areas where
more experience or training may be helpful and … provide recognition of achievement.”
A beta test of the exam was run nationally and 71 people achieved the certification. Of those that took the exam, 16 were from BOMA Seattle King County! See all the names here.
