BOMA Members Advocating for Our Industry: A Recap of Recent Success in Olympia
BOMA is the voice of commercial real estate on the issues that matter to the ownership of commercial real estate. BOMA’s key state legislative issue for 2020 is to seek legislative approval for C-PACER financing in Washington State. The commercial real estate industry is a significant driver of the nation's economic engine and is also one of the foremost employers in the United States. According to the BOMA 2020 Office Market Study, the office sector is a significant engine of growth both in local and state economies and around the U.S. Considering the contribution of large buildings owned and operated in the state:

BOMI Course: Real Estate Investment & Finance Begins May 7th
Through this course you will learn to take charge of real estate investments in order to maximize the value of a property. You will develop knowledge about basic financial concepts as they relate to real estate, including valuation, analysis, taxation, depreciation, and life-cycle costing. Similarly, you will learn to evaluate real estate investments and to develop budgets that estimate net operating income. You will study the income capitalization approach and cover property taxation costs and strategies to offset these costs. You will also gain the skills to conduct discounted cash flow analyses and calculate net present value and internal rate of return. Lunch and Learns - Free for BOMA Members
Power Hours are free educational opportunities for our members that occur once a month during the lunch hour and usually take place at the BOMA office. They present important topics that can impact our members and their business and gives quick and helpful information. They are not a sales pitch or a commercial but more of an opportunity to give information that is relevant and helpful to the target audience: property managers, engineers and sometimes other vendors.

COVID 19 - Coronavirus Information to BOMA Members

BOMA sent members a three-question survey on February, 26, 2020. Please take a couple minutes to respond to the survey as it will aid us in the development of the seminar. This survey will remain open until March 6th. The survey can be taken multiple times, in case you have any additional feedback after filling it out.
Coronavirus: Resources and Links to Help Prepare Your Tenants and Your Buildings As of February 7, 2020, there are 31,532 confirmed coronavirus infections and 638 deaths. There are currently 12 reported cases in the United States from individuals who recently traveled to Wuhan. Symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath and may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure. The immediate health risk of contracting the virus in the United States is considered low at this time. BOMA at the UW Career Fair: An Update and How You Can Benefit
On February 13, 2020, BOMA attended the Winter Career Fair at the UW Main Campus with the goal to increase awareness of the commercial real estate industry.We connected with hundreds of students and were able to introduce many of them to an industry that they had never heard of or even considered as a career path. Those who were most interested signed up to receive additional information. We plan to invite these students to a follow up event where they can meet with BOMA member companies that have open positions.
