In addition to single-family residences, “Big Roof” properties are encouraged to participate in the RainWise program.
RainWise offers rebates to help property owners install green stormwater solutions like rain gardens and cisterns. These strategies can mitigate polluted runoff, prevent flooding, add aesthetic landscaping, and can provide water for summer irrigation.
For properties with large roofs, the RainWise rebate typically covers the entire cost of installation. In addition, property owners can apply for the Stormwater Facilities Credit and save money on their annual drainage fee. The larger the roof, the bigger the rebate!
To receive a rebate, you must be in an eligible combined sewer overflow basin and work with a RainWise-trained contractor. Though, if your property was previously ineligible, you may now qualify for the RainWise program. Earlier this year, King County and Seattle Public Utilities opened two new RainWise basins in Southeast Seattle (Rainier Valley) and Southwest Seattle (Chelan).
If you own or manage a large property in one of these newly eligible basins, please reach out to seattle@2030districts.org to explore what’s possible!
